The Angstadt Arms flagship UDP-9 9mm semi-automatic is a superbly modular, compact and lightweight AR-15 type that’s compatible with Glock 9mm magazines. This means one less wheel to invent, potentially greater reliability and greater consumer appeal for those who already own Glocks. This simplifies logistics too since a Glock owner can shift ammo / magazines between the two.
The standard UDP-9 comes in all black. But you can also get the upper and lower receivers and handguard in Magpul FDE or in Tactical Gray. Everything else such as the pistol grip, barrel, flash hider, stock, trigger, etc., remain matte black. The gun’s compact dimensions mean it’s easy to operate in tight environs making it idea for security, home defense, law enforcement, etc. The UDP-9’s modularity means it’s compatible with virtually all aftermarket AR-15 Mil-Spec components
UDP-9’s standard AR-15 fire control group makes it easy and intuitive to understand and operate. Operation is via a 9mm bolt carrier group that drives the UPP-9’s blowback operated closed bolt system. Finish the magazine, and you’ll appreciate the UDP-9’s last round bolt hold open. Also, the bolt catch screw is threaded.
The barrel is housed inside 5.5” length Angstadt Arms free floating M-LOK hand guard. It has a pair of M-LOK slots on the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock flanks and 45-degree offsets lightening ported with tilted racetrack ovals in between. On top is a nice length of Picatinny rail that forms a continuous top with the one atop the upper receiver.
The compact gun’s total length is 22” and the weight is under five pounds. Nicely done, Angstadt Arms. Don’t let the German name fool you, Angstadt is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and its UDP-9 guns are made there, and thus Made in USA.
Finally available for public consumption is the much anticipated Scorpion sub-gun. Imported as a pistol, it is a blowback-operated semi-auto in 9mm with a short 7 barrel. Equipped with our newly designed low-profile sights, its rear sight has four different aperture sizes for everything from close quarters to way out there. The sights ride on an 11 Picatinny rail perfect for mounting optics. 2016 model year SKUs (91351/01351 and 91352/01352) feature 1/228 threads hidden underneath the factory flash-hider, meaning users can fit either 1/228 or 181 accessories to the muzzle. Also added is a QD sling swivel pocket integrated into the rear sling attachment point. Simple and reliable, the Scorpion not only has ambidextrous controls, its non-reciprocating charging handle is swappable and reach to the trigger is adjustable. Our favorite accessory for the Scorpion pistol is our new arm brace adapter, which quickly and easily adds an AR-style pistol buffer tube to the rear of the action, enabling the use of an arm brace for added stability.
