CETME Ameli Features

The CETME Ameli is, in effect, a modernized and scaled-down version of the notorious MG42.  It uses the same roller-locked action and has an impressively high fire rate as high as 1200 rounds per minute.  It is built with a 15.6 inch quick-change barrel that is removed by rotating the rear sight / carry handle which opens the barrel housing.  It also has a bipod that provides a half-way decent front grip surface.

CETME Ameli Ballistics

CETME Ameli Capacity

The CETME Ameli is chambered in 5.56x45mmNATO and feeds from ammo belts linked together with M27 links.  It does not use any non-disintegrating belts.  The standard belt size for the Ameli is 200 rounds, though the nature of disintegrating ammo belts allows for a non-finite belt.  When mounted on a vehicle, the Ameli can often be found with 1000 round belts loaded into it.

Measuring 38.2 inches long with an unloaded weight under 12 pounds, the CETME Ameli is one of the shortest and lightest 5.56 caliber belt-fed machine guns in current service.  It can easily be moved between firing positions and it can also be fitted onto tripods and into vehicles.

CETME Ameli Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The Ameli is very well-balanced for a belt-fed machine gun and can actually be fired from an unsupported standing position as shown by Carnik Con’s Dugan Ashley pictured above.  The barrel sits in-line with the user’s shoulder which reduces muzzle climb and allows the user to more easily stay on target instead of trying to wrestle the recoil.  The bipod, when folded, keeps the support hand away from the barrel shroud allowing for a more traditional rifle hold.

CETME Ameli Fit & Finish

The Ameli is made largely out of stamped steel components and makes wise use of polymer where it’s appropriate.  This high-strength polymer is used for the stock, the grip panels, and in some cases even the ammo boxes.  The barrel shroud, receiver pieces and the bipod are made of stamped steel, and the barrel is cold hammer forged.
