Beretta APX Features

The Beretta APX, one of the contenders for the US Army’s M17 contract, is a polymer-framed, striker fired semi automatic pistol that operates on a Browning-style short-recoil tilting barrel action.  It is available with a standard 4.25 inch barrel or 4.9 inch threaded barrel, both options are paired with windage-adjustable iron sights.

Beretta APX Capacity

The Beretta APX is available in 9x19mm Luger and .40 Smith & Wesson with both caliber options feeding from double-stack, single-feed magazines.  While both are available with 10 round magazines for those in states with capacity restrictions, the standard capacities are 15 rounds for the .40 caliber models and 17 rounds for the 9mm models.

Beretta APX Ergonomics

The APX has a contoured pistol grip that employs removable back straps to allow users to tailor the grip to best fill their hand.  The slide has unique and distinctive serrations that many trolls refer to as the “Toblerone cuts” on the front and rear of the slide.  The magazine release is reversible and the slide locking lever is ambidextrous.

Beretta APX Fit & Finish

The Beretta APX is built with a polymer grip that is pretty resistant to damage from wear and has finger grooves molded in with texturing added.  There’s a visible line between the replaceable back straps and the frame, but it’s not big enough to pinch your skin.  The slide and barrel are made of stainless steel, and the slide is optics-ready

Fit and Finish

Beretta APX Concealability

Measuring 7.5 inches long, 5.6 inches tall and 1.3 inches wide, the APX is easily concealed under heavier clothing typically worn in the winter months, but is not easily nor properly concealed in lighter and more typical clothing without the right holster and placement.  This is a common issue with full-size pistols; the grip likes to stick out.
