The IWI Tavor 7 is an Israeli bullpup battle rifle chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge designed and produced by Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) as part of the Tavor rifle family. It is a fully ambidextrous rifle. The Tavor 7 is in a bullpup configuration, the same as all the other rifles in the family. It uses a short-stroke gas piston system, unlike the two previous rifles, which utilized a long-stroke gas piston system, similar to the Galil and Kalashnikov rifles. This decreases recoil, as there is not as much mass cycling with each shot. The Tavor 7 also has a gas regulator with four positions: regular (R), adverse/extreme (A), suppressed/suppressor (S), and off/closed, intended for special operations. It has a hammer-forged, chrome-lined and free-floating barrel, with four RH grooves with a 1:12" right hand rifling twist. The Tavor 7 is fed by SR-25 pattern magazines.

IWI Tavor 7 Features

The IWI Tavor 7 is a bullpup semi-automatic rifle that accepts AR110 pattern magazines.  It has a 16.5 inch barrel with a ⅝-24 thread on the muzzle and operates on a rotating-bolt, long-stroke gas piston operating system.  It can be set up to eject out of the left or out of the right side depending on the bolt installed.  Its optics rail is long enough to accommodate almost any optics setup, and the rail is mounted directly to the barrel for maximum accuracy.

IWI Tavor 7 Capacity

The IWI Tavor 7 is chambered in 7.62x51mmNATO (.308WIN when measured in Freedom Units) and accepts AR10 pattern magazines allowing capacities of 10, 20 and 25 rounds in box magazines.  Drum magazines will fit, however the grip will be incredibly awkward.
Even though the IWI Tavor 7 weighs 9 pounds unloaded and without optics, its mobility is still quite high when firing.  With most of its weight against the user’s shoulder, the ability to switch between targets is improved immensely.  Its overall length of 26.75 inches allows this rifle to easily be maneuvered through close-quarter environments.

IWI Tavor 7 Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The IWI Tavor 7 is a rather large rifle with a wide cross-section.  Its controls are ambidextrous and its charging handle allows the user to easily lock the bolt to its rearward position.  Its bullpup configuration gives the rifle a back-heavy balance when carrying but gives a comfortable feel when firing.

IWI Tavor 7 Fit & Finish

The Tavor 7 is offered in black, green and desert-tan and employs a heavy use of polymer components.  Aluminum parts sport a type-3 hard anodize coating while steel parts are black-nitride coated for durability and resistance to damage from weather and wear.
