Currently on the desks of the Ways and Means Committee, HR 8268, also known as the “Disarm the IRS Act”, is under review in the House of Representatives. This bill with its one line of text aims to put a halt to the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) acquisition of ammunition.
This bill is in response to a seven-million round purchase order by the IRS and their hiring of 87,000 new agents who will be required to “carry a firearm and be willing to use deadly force if necessary” while collecting taxes. The bill’s actionable line of text simply reads, “Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Internal Revenue Service may not acquire (by purchase or otherwise) any ammunition after the date of the enactment of this Act.”
