The 700 BDL features 5R rifling and iron sights with the rear being adjustable and a hooded ramp in front. The receiver is machined from solid bar stock and is drilled and tapped for mounting optics. There are two sling studs mounted in the stock. The bolt face is recessed to lock inside the counter-bored breech for exceptional strength.

The 700 BDL is a centerfire, bolt action rifle available in .243 Winchester, .308 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor, 30-06 Springfield, 270 Winchester, 7mm Remington Magnum, and 300 Winchester Magnum. It features a fixed box magazine with hinged floor plate holding 4 rounds for 243, 270, 6.5CM, 308, and 30-06 and 3 rounds in 7mm Mag and 300 Win Mag. 
The 700 BDL is a good length and weight for carrying afield. It may be a little longer than desired for thick brush but can be used with forethought and planning.

The 700 BDL has a checkered pistol grip and fore-end on the Monte Carlo stock which also features a raised cheekpiece for consistent cheek weld placement. The length of pull is 13 ⅜” with 1” drop at comb and 1 ⅝” drop at heel offering a comfortable and natural firing position. The tang mounted safety is easy to operate from a shooting position using the thumb.
