The KSG-25 is no ordinary KSG. Its extended dual tube magazines hold twenty 3 inch, 12 gauge shells (plus one in the chamber), with the flexibility of switching between various projectiles. A patented downward ejection system makes it truly ambidextrous, while its 38 inch overall length, and 30.5 inch cylinder bore barrel still makes it more compact than a traditional style shotgun that holds a fraction of the amount of ammo.

Kel-Tec KSG-25 Features

The Kel-Tec KSG-25 is what you get when you fill a room full of engineers and tell them their only sustenance is energy drinks and conspiracy theories until they design a new gun.  The OG KSG is a bullpup pump action shotgun that uses an action directly based on the Ithaca 37 and the KSG-25 stretched it out to have enough capacity to last an entire round of clays.

Kel-Tec KSG-25 Ballistics

Kel-Tec KSG-25 Capacity

The KSG-25 feeds from a duet of magazine tubes that can each hold ten 3” shells, twelve 2.75” shells, or 18 of those cute little mini shells giving the KSG a total capacity anywhere from 20 + 1 to 36 + 1 depending on your ammo mix.  Rounds are loaded directly into the magazine tubes by flicking the magazine switch over the tube you don’t want to load and popping shells in the tube you want.  That mag switch selects which tube you’re feeding from, and can even shut the tubes off completely.

Measuring 38 inches long with an unloaded weight of 9.25 pounds, the KSG-25 is definitely a heavy mama-jama, though this does reduce the amount of felt recoil.  This gun was not designed with any practical use in mind, but was instead designed as a taunt to all of the states that have imposed magazine restrictions in that its length was determined by how many of the biggest shells someone in New York could load without breaking the law.

Kel-Tec KSG-25 Mobility

Mobility

Kel-Tec KSG-25 Ergonomics

Ergonomics
There is only one difference between the original KSG and the 25 in terms of ergonomics and that is in its more front-heavy balance.  The controls are identical and this gun is left-hand friendly as the shells both load and eject through the bottom, so south-paws won’t be getting spent shells kicked into their face.  The front grip includes a picatinny rail which allows you to add a vertical grip in case you find the exceptionally wide forend too large.

Kel-Tec KSG-25 Fit & Finish

Unlike many other Kel-Tec products, the KSG series required a stronger polymer for its construction as opposed to the “recycled beach plastic” they’re typically known to use.  The rest of the gun makes liberal use of stainless steel for its internal components and hardened carbon steel for the rest of it.  The carbon steel parts are then parkerized to prevent rust and corrosion.
