Marlin 60SS Features

The Marlin Model 60SS is a semi-automatic .22 caliber rifle that operates on a direct-blowback action.  It is built with a 19 inch barrel topped with a hooded front sight blade and an elevation-adjustable rear sight.  The receiver is drilled and tapped allowing users to mount optics via the attachment of a picatinny rail, or they can use the ⅜” dovetail with the proper scope rings.

Marlin 60SS Capacity

The Marlin Model 60SS is chambered in .22LR and feeds from a fixed 14 round tube magazine.  Rounds are loaded into the tube by removing the feeding tube and dropping rounds through the loading port along the bottom of the magazine.  Even though .22 Short cartridges will fit in this gun, it won’t reliably cycle due to the shorter overall length and reduced power so it will likely either jam or fail to cycle the action.

Measuring 37.5 inches long and with an unloaded weight of 5.5 pounds, the Marlin Model 60SS is a very light, handy rifle.  This gun can easily be carried over long durations through just about any terrain making it an excellent rifle to take squirrel hunting.  This light weight also makes it easier for younger kids learning how to shoot to lift and hold it so it’s easier on them.

Marlin 60SS Mobility

Mobility

Marlin 60SS Ergonomics

Ergonomics
The Marlin 60SS has the same ergonomics and controls as the standard Model 60 including its half-pistol grip and elevated stock comb.  Due to the weight and caliber of this gun, the recoil is nearly non-existent making it an excellent option for casual plinking and for teaching new shooters about America’s coolest pastime.

Marlin 60SS Fit & Finish

The Marlin Model 60SS, short of some springs and the sights, has metal components that are made entirely out of stainless steel.  Marlin’s guns are all manufactured by Ruger and in proper Ruger fashion, the parts are heat treated to be incredibly hard to reduce wear and increase durability.  The stocks are either made of laminate wood sealed in a matte clear coat or they are built on a composite stock to truly make it weather resistant.
