The P226 has a longer barrel for better accuracy and muzzle velocity, but the higher bore axis gives you more muzzle flip so follow-up shots aren't as fast. Also, the 226 is considerably heavier. There's pros and cons to every gun, so I would recommend renting each at an indoor range so you can shoot them and figure out which one will work better for you.
